Play is a spontaneous activity that is part of the development of the boy or girl, since it is one of the actions that are carried out from the first ages, it contributes to the integral formation of the boy or girl. But this also serves to encourage participation. In this sense, the research question arises: How does the use of the game as a didactic strategy promote democratic participation in first grade students of an Educational Institution of Metropolitan Lima? To answer the proposed problem, the objective of the research is to analyze the use of the game as a didactic strategy to promote democratic participation in first grade elementary school students. Consequently, two specific objectives are proposed, which seek to characterize the games used by teachers and describe the conditions promoted by teachers to promote democratic participation, through the use of the play as a didactic strategy with first grade elementary school students. The research is qualitative and descriptive. The results show that in the classroom it is important to use the game, since it allows the development in the cognitive, motor, social, emotional, psychosocial and physical aspect of the infant. But it also encourages the participation of boys and girls, since they share the same recreational activity and each one does it based on their possibilities and limitations. However, this implies a great challenge, since it was evidenced that the game is usually used in the sessions of the area of mathematics and communication; therefore, the biggest challenge is its application in all curricular areas and that it is not only promoted from a curricular perspective, but that it can be implemented in other spaces and activities.
