Fábrica de Armas y Municiones del Ejército S.A.C. (FAME SAC) is a private law state company, created in 1962 that provides weapons systems, ammunition and related items to the civilian market and, especially, to the military and police market, made up of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru, thus contributing to the Security and National Defense. The objective of the consultancy was to identify the main problem and provide solution proposals. The result of the analysis carried out identified that the main problem was the insufficient production capacity of the plant due to several factors, the main ones being (a) the business model that does not allow the development of a production plan, (b) the antiquity of the machinery and consequently the obsolete technology that dominates the production process, and (c) the bad financial situation. To solve this problem, two possible scenarios were proposed: (a) scenario 1 focused on a gradual increase in production, through the implementation of a new line of 9mm cartridges (b) scenario 2 focused on the implementation of two new production lines. One for 9mm cartridges and one for 7.62mm. The recommended solution alternative is scenario two because it maximizes the business case for FAME SAC. This scenario requires an investment of S/.90 millon peruvian soles with an internal rate of return of 49% and a net present value of S/. 153 millon peruvian soles.
