The objective of this research was to compare the level of performance obtained in the phrase repetition (RF) and pseudoword repetition (RPP) tasks in first grade primary school children from public institutions in the urban area of Trujillo and Oxapampa. The selection of these tasks was based on the fact that both are markers of SLI. To develop the study, a comparative descriptive design was used through the analysis of two samples of 50 first grade students from public institutions located in the urban areas of Trujillo and Oxapampa. The instruments used for data collection were the sentence repetition subtest of the CELF-5, which was validated through expert judgment; and Aguado's (2005) pseudoword repetition test, also validated through judges' criteria. The result was that no significant differences were found (p>.05) in the repetition of sentences between the students of Trujillo and Oxapampa; but, on the contrary, highly significant differences were found in the repetition of pseudowords (U=882,500; p<.01) between these populations. In this way, it is concluded that the null hypothesis of the general hypothesis is partially rejected.
