The occupational stress experienced by healthcare personnel is something they encounter
on a daily basis. Resilience is the ability to successfully cope with stress, as demonstrated.
The objective of this paper was to identify the relationship between work stress and
resilience in health staff, mental and physical health, such as nurses, caregivers,
psychologists, doctors, paramedics in several medical centers around the world. A
systematic search was conducted following the guidelines from the PRISMA guide
(Urrútia and Bon-fill, 2013). The consulted databases were Proquest, Ebsco, APA
PsycNET, Scopus and Pubmed. Papers that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were
selected for analysis (n=7). The results showed that these are two variables that are
oppositely related, which is demonstrated when the perceived stress is lower as resilience
in health staff grows higher. Therefore, it is important to promote resilience interventions
as this can help mitigate perceived stress.
