The objective of this research was to determine the pre-feasibility of the installation of a production plant for ergonomic toothbrushes with removable head made with bioplastic obtained from ethanol from sugar cane. This plant will produce both toothbrushes and removable heads that serve as a disposable replacement. This project is contextualized in the Peruvian toothbrush market in a time horizon of 5 years starting from 2020. Based on historical data of the market, it was obtained that the demand for the project in its last year will add up to 5674 boxes of both, toothbrushes, and heads. The production plant to be installed to meet this demand will be in Huachipa and will have maximum sizes equivalent to the previously mentioned demand and minimum sizes of 3887 boxes/year and 3428 boxes/year for toothbrushes and heads, respectively. In addition, the designed plant will have an area of 1341,47 m2, which will allow to have the necessary technology to produce bioplastic from sugar cane ethanol and hence, the brushes and heads. Nevertheless, a period of 340 business days was estimated to complete the installation of the plant, recruit the necessary personnel, and start operations. Finally, it was determined that the required investment adds up to S/. 6 831 851 and that for that level of investment, the project is profitable. This, because a financial NPV of S/. 133 034, an IRR of 23,09%, a Benefit/Cost Ratio of 1,05 and an initial investment recovery period of 4 years and 11 months were obtained after completing the economic-financial evaluation. In the social aspect, the project will generate a capital density of S/. 185 122 / inhabitant and labor productivity of S/. 69 580 / inhabitant.
