This work proposes an analysis of the leading characters of the Peruvian feature films Gregorio (1982) and Manco Cápac (2020) under the following observation: both films show differences in the narrative representation of the migration process of their protagonists, but similarities in the obstacles they face in their process of adaptation to urban life. The objective of the research is to describe the experience of both characters in their migration process. In order to understand the cultural and production context of both films, topics such as regional cinema, the rite of passage, the influence of Italian neorealism on Peruvian and Latin American films and the work of the Chaski Group are explored. As a methodology for this study, an analysis sheet is made that takes as reference the three-phase scheme proposed by Van Gennep (1909) and is based on the compilation research of Pérez (2016) on the different analysis criteria of the cinematographic character proposed by several authors. Likewise, an interview is conducted with the two directors of the aforementioned films, Henry Vallejo, from Manco Cápac, and Alejandro Legaspi, from Gregorio.
