Abstract: La minería en Perú genera controversias tanto en la sociedad como en las organizaciones
dedicadas a las actividades extractivas. El objetivo de este estudio fue conocer la influencia de
la reputación del sector minero en la imagen corporativa de una empresa del rubro. Para ello,
se realizaron doce entrevistas a profundidad a representantes de los diferentes públicos del
sector, como periodistas, funcionarios públicos, docentes, colaboradores de la empresa
estudiada, entre otros. Como resultado, se obtuvo que la reputación del sector minero es
negativa y se refuerza por sus antecedentes y la desinformación; pero la imagen de la empresa
aún es positiva debido a su responsabilidad con la sociedad. Asimismo, la empresa estudiada
no tiene una significativa participación en los medios y no se ha posicionado en la mente de
sus grupos de interés, razón por la cual su imagen corporativa no se ha visto afectada a pesar
de la reputación del sector.

For this purpose, 12 indepth interviews were conducted with representatives of the different publics in the sector, such as journalists, public officials, teachers, collaborators of the company studied, among others. As a result, it was obtained that the reputation of the mining sector is negative and is reinforced by its background and misinformation, but the company’s image continues to be positive due to its responsibility to society. Likewise, the company studied does not have a significant participation in the media and has not positioned itself in the minds of its stakeholders, which is why its corporate image has not been affected despite the reputation of the sector.
