Objective: To determine the psychological distress in patients with diabetes attending the Clinicor Clinic in Los Olivos 2022. Materials and methods: Quantitative approach and descriptive cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 100 patients. The applied technique was the survey and the instrument was the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS-17) questionnaire, which consist of 17 items and 4 dimensions. Results: Based on the findings of the study, it was evidenced that 95% of the diabetic patients had high distress levels. Meanwhile, at the level of four dimensions: emotional burden, distress related to the doctor, distress related to treatment and interpersonal distress, 9 out of 10 patients presented high distress. Finally, the level of psychological distress was significantly related to the duration of sleep (p=0.001), interval between clinic visits (p=0.035) and complication due to some disease (p= 0.003), with a significance level of p less than or equal to 0.05. Conclusions: Most of the patients who participated in the research presented a high level of psychological distress in total and in each of the four dimensions. Regarding analyzing the scores of psychological distress with sociodemographic variables, there were found significant relationships with three variables: duration of sleep, interval between visits, and complication due to some disease. However, no significant relationships were found with age, gender, marital status, and family income.
