The consumption of foods rich in anthocyanins has shown improvements in cardiometabolic characteristics after ingestion of anthocyanin or berry supplements. The present secondary study called critical review: What is the effect of anthocyanin consumption on cardiometabolic parameters of patients with metabolic syndrome? aims to make a critical comment according to the study of scientific works of articles linked to the topic of foods rich in anthocyanins to improve cardiometabolic parameters. The question was: What is the effect of anthocyanin consumption on cardiometabolic parameters (endothelial function, arterial stiffness, HDL and LDL cholesterol) of patients with metabolic syndrome? An Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The search was done in CLINICAL NUTRITION, SCIENCE DIRECT, PUBMED, finding 27 studies, choosing 10 evaluated by CASPE, choosing the Randomized Clinical Trial titled Blueberries improve biomarkers of cardiometabolic function in participants with metabolic syndrome: results of a six-month, double-blind, randomized controlled trial, which presents an AI level of evidence and a Strong Recommendation, according to the researcher's expertise. Critical judgment enables sufficient verification to determine the effect of consuming foods rich in anthocyanins on improving cardiometabolic parameters such as endothelial function, arterial stiffness, HDL cholesterol.
