The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional dependence and parenting styles in secondary school adolescents from an educational institution in the Villa El Salvador district, 2022. It was a quantitative, descriptive research study. Data collection was carried out using the Parenting Styles Scale (EEC-1) and the Emotional Dependence Scale: ACCA, administered in person at the institution for the research. Descriptive statistics were used to obtain frequencies, percentages, and create statistical tables. For inferential analysis, the Chi-square test of independence was conducted to examine the relationship between parenting styles and their dimensions of paternal support and paternal control with emotional dependence. Additionally, Fisher's Exact Test was used to evaluate the relationship between two qualitative variables with a 95% confidence interval for the main study variables. The results revealed no statistically significant relationship (p-value < 0.05) between emotional dependence and parenting styles. It was found that emotional dependence and its tendency were more prevalent among female students. Furthermore, cases of emotional dependence or its tendency were more common among 5th-year secondary school students.
