Introduction: it is a surgical or percutaneous procedure performed in a critical area, to create an opening through the trachea with the aim of allowing a permeable airway, helping possible complications and providing the possibility of oxygen therapy. Objective: To determine how knowledge about the care of the patient with tracheostomy is related to the practice of the nursing professional in critical areas of the Goyeneche hospital, 2024. Method: The method used is hypothetical-deductive and generally assumes that correctly formed theories are conjectures intended to explain or contrast a hypothesis test; the population and sample related to this study will consist of 110 nurses. Culminating the field work and surveys to the nursing staff; the results will be statistically processed and reported in a series of tables and graphs, its analysis and interpretation for each variable and its dimensions, this will be elaborated with the help of statistical programs "Excel Program" and "Statistical Program SPSS version 26.0"; and carried out with the verification of the correlation between the variables with Spearman's Test (Rho).
