The present research work was carried out with the objective of determining the frequency and factors associated with the predisposition to vulvovaginal candidiasis in pregnant patients treated at the PNP Luis Sáenz National Hospital. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, with a sample made up of 74 pregnant women who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Direct examination and culture in Chromagar medium were used to measure vaginal candidiasis. To identify risk factors and frequency, a data collection form was used. The results indicate that neither general knowledge about vulvovaginal candidiasis nor specific knowledge about its causes have a clear influence on the incidence of this infection among the women studied. The complexity of the factors that contribute to candidiasis is highlighted, requiring a more comprehensive approach that includes education, but also consideration of other risk factors and preventive practices. It is concluded that the relative frequency of vaginal infections caused by fungi (Candida spp.) in women treated at the PNP Luis Sáenz National Hospital in Lima during 2024 was 34%. This frequency is considerably high, suggesting that more than a third of vaginal infections in this population are caused by fungi of the genus Candida.
