Determine the relationship between total parenteral nutrition and bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature newborns hospitalized in the Neonatology Service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo during the period from January 2014 to December 2023. Material and method: It is an analytical, observational, historical cohort research; in which medical records of patients with very low birth weight, between 28 and 32 weeks of age, were reviewed. The sample consisted of 104 newborns, distributed into 2 groups, 52 who received total parenteral nutrition and 52 who did not, taking into account the selection criteria. The Pearson Chi Square test was used for the association between qualitative variables and the U test, for quantitative variables, the statistician was the Relative Risk, with a 95% confidence interval; In addition, a multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the associated factors. Results: The development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia was 42.3% in both study groups, being non-significant (p=1.000; RR: 1; 95% CI: 0.638-1.567). A slight difference was found in relation to gestational age and birth weight. Late sepsis and patent ductus arteriosus were significant (p=0.001 and p<0.001 respectively). Conclusion: In the present study, no association was found between total parenteral nutrition and the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature newborns
