Objective: To determine the factors associated with the development of post traumatic stress disorder in Trujillo firefighters who attended during the COVID-19 pandemic in the years 2020-2021. Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in which 48 firefighters from the following companies were included: Compañía Salvadora de Trujillo N°26, Compañía Víctor Larco Herrera N° 224 and Compañía “Washington State“ N°177, who attended during the pandemic by COVID-19 in the years 2020-2021, according to the selection criteria, which were divided according to the presence or not of PTSD, the chi square and the odds ratio statistician were calculated. Results: Through the multivariate analysis of each of the statistically significant variables according to the bivariate analysis (p<0.05), the variables socioeconomic level D and E (OR 5.6; 95% CI 1.6-10.1)(p=0.022), married marital status (OR 5.3; 95% CI 1.5-9.7)(p=0.027), high workload (OR 5.1; 95% CI 1.3-10.3)(p=0.024) and smoking (OR 6.4; 95% CI 1.8-11.1)(p=0.016) were identified as factors associated with PTSD. There were no significant differences for age, sex, body mass index, sleep problems and rank among firefighters with post-traumatic stress disorder and without post-traumatic stress disorder (p>0.05). The prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder was 45.8%, of which 72.7% presented at least one statistically significant factor. Conclusion: Socioeconomic level D and E, married marital status, high workload and smoking are factors associated with post-traumatic stress disorder in Trujillo firefighters who attended during the COVID-19 pandemic in the years 2020-2021.
