The objective of this research was to compare two surgical techniques (medial and lateral) for ovariohysterectomy (OVH) in Felis catus, considering surgical time and complete wound healing. For this purpose, 20 animals were selected for each experimental group (medial and lateral techniques), resulting in a total of 40 intact female cats, aged between 8 months and 5 years, meeting the selection criteria. The results were statistically analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. According to the findings, a significant difference (p<0.05) was observed in the average surgery times between the lateral (10.85 minutes) and medial (9.75 minutes) approaches for OVH in cats, with the medial technique requiring less time compared to the lateral approach. Regarding the average healing time, a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) was also determined between the two approaches, with the lateral approach showing faster healing (9.60 days). In conclusion, the medial technique required less surgical time, whereas the lateral approach resulted in shorter complete healing time.
