To analyze the factors that influence scientific publication practices in students from the 4th to the 7th year of the UPAO Faculty of Human Medicine. August to December. Method: A cross-sectional analytical observational study was carried out, which included 75 UPAO students distributed in 19 students of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 18 students of the 7th year enrolled in the 2021 school year; in whom a virtual survey was applied and they were consulted about their participation in a scientific publication or their authorship and the factors that may or may not have influenced said decision. Association was determined by Pearson's Chi-square.. Results: The average age was 24.2 years, mostly male, and with a higher publication rate in 5th year undergraduate students. The frequency of publication was 16%. Time was associated with publication (p<0.001). Interest in publishing was present in 100% of those who published and in 60.3% of those who did not (p<0.001). Belonging to the scientific society was also an associated factor (p<0.001). Having institutional support was associated with publication (p=0.001), as well as having received advice (p=0.014) and having received extracurricular training (p<0.001). Conclusions: Having time, interest in publishing, belonging to a scientific society, having institutional support, having received advice and having extra training are factors that influence scientific publication practices in students from the 4th to the 7th year of the UPAO Faculty of Human Medicine
