Objective: To establish whether gender, provenance, secondary education, nutritional status, and family dysfunction are factors associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students in Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, transversal section study was carried out. The study population consisted of 102 high school students according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria divided into two groups: at risk of eating disorder or without it, the prevalence ratio was calculated and the chi square test was applied. Results: Gender is a factor associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students with a prevalence ratio of 3.8 which was significant (p <0.05). Belonging to the fifth grade of secondary school is a factor associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students with a prevalence ratio of 3.5 which was significant (p <0.05). Obesity is a factor associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students with a prevalence ratio of 3.28 which was significant (p <0.05). monoparental family is a factor associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students with a prevalence ratio of 3.05 which was significant (p <0.05). Conclusions: gender, grade of secondary education, nutritional status, and monoparental family are factors associated with the risk of eating disorders in high school students in Trujillo.
