Objective: Measure the impact of an educational video game on the level of knowledge about Dengue in schoolchildren in an endemic area. Material and methods: An experimental, longitudinal and comparative study was carried out in the Institution ““Andrés Avelino Cáceres““ of Talara, whose participants were primary school students. Fifth and sixth grade primary school students were selected, after compliance with selection criteria, and they were placed in three working groups (talk, video game and videogame plus talk). Initial and post-intervention evaluations were applied. Student's T was used to analyze the mean of the scores before and after in each group; and ANOVA One Way to detect significant differences in the scores between the three groups before and after. Results: 254 questionnaires were applied before and after the interventions to 127 schoolchildren. The sex ratio was 1: 1 (74 girls and 73 boys). 51% (66) of children were 10 years old and 49% (61), 11. The initial evaluation reflected low level of knowledge (global mean 9,8/20 IC95% 8,8 a 10,7). After the interventions, only group 2 did not change its average [10/20 IC95% 9.1 to 10.8 (t = 1.4 P> 0.05) | (critical value of F = 2.69, P> 0.05). Conclusions: the videogame did not demonstrate a positive impact on the level of knowledge about Dengue in schoolchildren under study.
