To determine if anxiety and depression are associated with a history of induced abortion in students of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego during the period 2016 - II. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We performed an observational, analytical, crosssectional, prospective study, which evaluated 536 university students from the last year of school, of which this number was subtracted from those who had never had sex, leaving a total of 424 students, which were included in the study. RESULTS: The mean age of university students was 23.14 ± 2.37 years. The univariate analysis showed that the variables associated with depression were occupation, having ever used drugs, smoking, number of sexual partners in the whole of life and having had some type of abortion in your life (p < 0,05); the variables sexual partner, living with their parents, the number of sexual partners in the last year and having caused an abortion had tendencies to be statistically significant. Univariate analysis showed that the variables associated with anxiety were age, consumption of drugs, smoking, and number of sexual partners in a lifetime (p < 0.05). Factors associated with depression following multivariate analysis through logistic regression were age, current partner, occupation, drug use, and number of sexual partners in the past year. CONCLUSIONS: Having had an abortion at some time in your life was associated with depression but not anxiety; the history of induced abortion had a tendency to be significantly associated with depression.
