A study of cases and controls was performed at the Hospital II Essalud Huaraz in 2015, to determine whether early cord clamping is a risk factor for the development of anemia in infants six months of age. The sample included 84 infants six months were assigned to two study groups, the first corresponding to cases comprised 42 infants six months with anemia and the second corresponding to the controls comprised 42 infants six months without anemia, taking into consideration the hemoglobin value <13,00gr / dl for being at altitude. The results show that 31% of infants with early cord clamping had anemia compared with 19% of infants with anemia in the late clamping group. The resulting OR was 3.625 (95% CI) with a statistical significance of p <0.059, and contingency coefficient of 0.296 demonstrating the association between the variables. Conclusion: Early cord clamping is a risk factor for anemia in infants six months of age
