0,029; OR = 10,652; IC = 95 %: 1,221 – 92,922).
Objective: To determine if polycystic ovarian syndrome is a risk factor for gestationalhypertension. Material and Methods: A retrospective, cross – sectional study of cases and controls wasperformed in pregnant women between the ages of 22 and 34 years old (n = 74) and without (n= 148) a diagnosis of PCOS that came to their attention To the Maternal and Child Health Center El Bosque during the period 2014 - 2016. For the statistical analysis the Chi square test was used, a p value <0.05 and a risk factor for an OR> 1 being considered significant. Results: The antecedent frequency of PCOS in pregnant women with gestational hypertension was 6.76% (n = 5) and in those without gestational hypertension 0.68% (n = 1). The history ofPCOS was found to be a risk factor for gestational hypertension (p value = 0.029, OR =10,652, CI = 95%: 1,221 – 92,922). Conclusion: PCOS is a risk factor for gestational hypertension.
