This research aimed to determine the relation between Helicobacter Pylori infection and ABO blood group, on dyspepsia patients treated in Belen Hospital of Trujillo. Method and Materials: An analytical study of cases and controls, composed of medical records of each patient diagnosed with dyspepsia treated at the Department of Gastroenterology between 2012 and 2015 in Belen Hospital of Trujillo. The case group consisted of patients records with Helicobacter Pylori infection and the control group for those who had not. The independent variable was the ABO blood group. A protocol for data collection was used. Results: This study evaluated a total of 111 patients, which were grouped into 37 cases and 74 controls. The average age of the total series was 16,003 ± 51.91 years (range 20-86 years). The average age of cases and controls was 54.43 ± 50.43 ± 14,231 and 16,890 years, respectively (p = 0.209). The predominant sex in both the cases and controls was female (75.7% and 69.8%; p = 0.530). Most of the patients came from rural areas (64.9% cases and controls = 61.9%, respectively; p = 0.767). The cases and controls showed predominantly O blood group ( 83.8 % and 61.9 % respectively ; p = 0.021 ) , with an odds ratio of 3.17 (C.I. 95 % : 1.16 - 8.74 ) . It was also found that the A, B , AB blood group was less association with Helicobacter pylori infection , OR 0.35 (C.I. 95 % : 0.11 to 0.87 ) . Conclusions: Patients in the O blood group have increased risk of Helicobacter Pylori infection.
