Determine if interpregnancy interval influences in the premature rupture of membranes in Belen Hospital of Trujillo in 2015. Material and Methods: Was conducted an observational, analytical, retrospective cohort. The population was conformed of 196 pregnant women who were divided into two groups of 98 each one, according to criteria of inclusion and exclusion, regardless of the type of outcome of previous pregnancy with short interpregnancy interval (≤ 24 months) and appropriate interpregnancy interval (25 - 48 months). Results: The frequency of premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women with short and appropriate interpregnancy interval was 42.9% and 6.1% respectively. The average gestational age in which premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women occurs with short and appropriate interpregnancy interval was 36 and 39 weeks respectively. Short interpregnancy interval was associated with an increased risk of premature rupture of membranes (RR: 7; CI 3.12 to 15.71; p <0.0001). Conclusions: Short interpregnancy interval (≤ 24 months) is a risk factor associated with premature rupture of membranes.
