Determine polycystic ovary syndrome as a predisposing factor of diabetes mellitus type II in women older than 30 years MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: He was an observational, analytical, case-control study, which evaluated 45 women with Diabetes mellitus II (cases), 180 women without Diabetes mellitus II (controls). RESULTADOS: the presence of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome was 25%, while in women older than 30 years without diabetes mellitus II this syndrome was present in the 3.4%. We found an OR = 7.25 with a confidence interval to the 95% 2.42 to 21.64 CONCLUSIONES: The frequency of Polycystic ovary syndrome in older than 30 years of age with type II diabetes mellitus was 25% and 3.4% in older than 30 years without diabetes mellitus II patients. The Polycystic ovary syndrome is a risk factor for the development of type II diabetes mellitus in women older than 30 years.
