The purpose of this thesis was to compare the degree of temporomandibular dysfunction in partially edentulous patients, carriers and non-carriers of removable prostheses, seen at the Stomatology Clinic of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, 2014. The prospective, cross-sectional, comparative and observational study included a total of 108 patients ranging from 30 to 65 years old. To evaluate the degree of temporomandibular dysfunction, Helkimo test was used, and for the identification of partial edentulous patient, qualified criteria edentulous gap, according to the American College of Prosthodontics. For statistical analysis, the nonparametric Mann-Whitney test was used. To obtain the sample had to examine the medical records of partially edentulous patients wearing removable dentures, thus, to obtain a reliable sample. The results show that there is significant difference in degree of temporomandibular dysfunction in partially edentulous patients, carriers and non-carriers of dentures.
