evaluate the association between pharyngolaryngeal reflux and chronic pharyngitis in the patients of the Hospital De Especialidades Básicas La Noria Materials and methods: an analytical, observational, cross-sectional study was carried out, whose study population included 199 patients from the otolaryngology outpatient service. The patients were divided into 2 groups with and without a diagnosis of chronic pharyngitis, in addition, each patient was evaluated using the reflux symptom index (RSI), to determine whether or not they had pharyngolaryngeal reflux. The association of the variables between both study groups was performed using the Chi square test with a significance level of 95% (p < 0.05). Results: 47.2% of the patients included presented chronic pharyngitis, of which 45.2% also had pharyngolaryngeal reflux, both variables showed statistical significance (p<0.05), as well as the probability that patients with chronic pharyngitis present pharyngolaryngeal reflux is 24.63 times. The intervening variables that were included were not significant in patients with chronic pharyngitis. Conclusions: pharyngolaryngeal reflux is a factor associated with chronic pharyngitis in patients at the Hospital De Especialidades Básicas La Noria.
