Objective: To determine that the low level of parental knowledge is a factor associated with hospitalization in children due to asthmatic crisis treated in the emergency service of the Belén de Trujillo hospital. Material and methods: The research is analytical, observational, prospective, cases and controls nested in a cohort. A sample of 76 parents of children aged 5 to 14 years who are hospitalized due to asthmatic crisis and 76 parents of children aged 5 to 14 years who are not hospitalized due to asthmatic crisis were randomly selected, being a total of 152 parents, and evaluated the level of knowledge about bronchial asthma between the months of May and October 2019. The chi-square statistical test was used to verify the statistical significance of the associations found with the risk factors under study; considering its significance if the possibility of making mistakes is less than 5% (p <0.05). Results: It was obtained that the low level of knowledge was associated with hospitalization of children from 5 to 14 years due to asthmatic crisis, has an odds ratio of 2.36, a confidence interval of [1.23-4-4] and with a value of P: 0.009 . Conclusions: The low level of parental knowledge is a risk factor associated with hospitalization in children aged 5 to 14 years due to asthmatic crisis at the Belén de Trujillo hospital
