Objectives: To describe the associated factors, as well as sociodemographic and clinical-therapeutic characteristics in adult patients with peritonitis hospitalized in the Santa Rosa II-2 hospital in 2018. Material and methods: Basic, observational, correlational, transversal, retrospective study of secondary source; Clinical histories that met the selection criteria were reviewed, obtaining data through a data collection form. The population were adult patients who entered the surgery service with diagnosis of peritonitis at the Hospital Santa Rosa in 2018. The data were processed in Excel and SPSS version 25 program. In which first a univariate analysis was performed to describe characteristics and later a bivariate analysis, with association statistics (Chi Square) for statistical significance. Results: Of the 114 patients, 56.1% are male, mostly of Piurana origin. The average age was 36.55 years, the age between [18-29] years occupied the highest place in terms of frequency (50%) followed by the group between 30-59 years (31.6%). With background; pathological (17%), antec. surgery (11%), 5% cancer and 1 patient RAM. The average sick time was 46 hours, the average operating time was 82 minutes; the average hospital stay was 4 days, the ICU stay 1 day. The initial focus of peritonitis was the cecal appendix (89.5%), the most frequent extension was localized (80.7%) and the liq. The most frequent peritoneal was purulent (79.8%). The Mannheim index showed an S: 60% and E: 98%. The factors associated with having a high Mannheim were antec. cancer X2 = 27,306 p = 0.000 (CI = 95%); prolonged operative time X2 = 25,642 p = 0.000 (IC = 95%); prolonged hospital stay X2 = 35,430 p = 0.000 (CI = 95%), and prolonged stay in the ICU X2 = 31,957 p = 0.000 (CI = 95%). Conclusions: Peritonitis was more frequent in Piura males between 18 and 29 years of age, whose most frequent clinical manifestations were abdominal pain and nausea. The peritonitis were originated mostly by appendicitis with localized extension and liq. purulent peritoneal. The Mannheim score with high specificity and low sensitivity helps patient screening. The existence of factors associated with high risk of death due to peritonitis was demonstrated.
