The objective of this research report was to determine the relationship between work stress and nursing care of patients in the emergency department of the Hospital Santa Gema de Yurimaguas-2024. The study developed a basic quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational design. In this way, we worked with a population of 53 nurses who work in the care of patients in the emergency service, taking into account the same number of sample under the basis of the use of convenience sampling. The main results showed that 75.5% of the nursing professionals presented moderate levels of stress due to lack of material and technical resources, which made it difficult to provide quality care and increased frustration and stress, and 60.4% of the nursing professionals presented an intermediate level of care for their patients in the emergency department. It was concluded through Spearman's Rho coefficient -0.235 and a p=0.009<0.05, that there is sufficient evidence of an inverse relationship, where as nurses' work stress increases, their ability to provide quality care decreases, affecting both patients and the nursing staff
