Today, organizations around the world are involved in the development of their own projects or for their clients. The efficiency and effectiveness with which projects are managed is a source of competitive advantage. Project management has several areas of specialty, one of which is considered a critical success factor: risk management. This work focuses on developing a project risk management methodology (MGR) for the company CENS (a Peruvian company that operates in the telecommunications sector). The marked technical-engineering bias that characterizes the management approach used by most companies in this sector means that having a MGR gives something different and contributes to improving the value proposition for clients. The concept of risk and risk management are not exclusive to the field of project management. They can be discussed in practically all areas of human activity. As a consequence of this, there are various reference standards, national and international, to deal with this issue. The risk management methodology (MGR) developed in this work is focused on projects and has been based mainly on the PMBOK® Guide, versions 6 and 7. The principles and main processes for risk management in projects proposed by the PMBOK® Guide have been taken into consideration, with the exception of the quantitative risk analysis process.
