Gender inequality has extensive negative repercussions on both the economy and society as a whole. Therefore, this research was conducted with the purpose of examining the relationship between higher education and wage disparity within STEM careers in Lima. To this end, data from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) for the years 2010 and 2019 was used. In order to carry out this analysis, Mincer equations were employed, and estimations were corrected using the Heckman model. Additionally, the Oaxaca-Blinder model was applied to conduct a more detailed analysis of the impact of higher education on reducing gender wage disparity in the mentioned disciplines in Lima. The results obtained confirm that higher university education has a positive and significant effect on increasing salaries in these areas of study. Nevertheless, the gender wage gap persists, as men continue to earn more than women on average, even after accounting for education and work experience.
