Objective: Determine if there is an association between the characteristics of the work schedule and Obstructive Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome in taxi drivers working in Metropolitan Lima in 2023. Material and methods: Analytical cross-sectional study, conducted during August to December 2023, among taxi drivers in Metropolitan Lima. The population consisted of 133 taxi drivers over 28 years who agreed to participate and respond to a survey. The risk of OSAS was measured by the STOP-BANG questionnaire. The Athens Insomnia Scale questionnaire was used to assess insomnia. The other variables were measured with direct questions. Results: Drivers worked a median of 6 days per week, 10 hours per day and a median of 2 nightshifts per week. 70.1% of the drivers were at moderate/high risk of OSAS. No association was found between work schedule characteristics and OSAS risk. 79% of taxi drivers were overweight/obese and a large proportion of these were at moderate/high risk of OSAS. 90.9% of diabetics were at moderate/high risk of OSAS. Was observed that taking breaks confers 25% less risk of moderate/high OSAS. Conclusions: No statistically significant association was found between the work schedule characteristics and the risk of OSAS. A significant proportion of taxi drivers in Metropolitan Lima had moderate/high risk of OSAS.
