The demographic growth and the need to maximize land use have boosted the construction of multi-story buildings in Lima, Peru. However, the high seismic threat in the country, especially in densely populated areas, requires structural design to be precise and to pay special attention to the construction process for ensuring the safety and durability of the buildings. During construction, variable and difficult-to-predict loads can significantly affect the strength and stability of the structure. Faced with this reality, this research aims to determine how considering the construction sequence in the structural analysis of buildings influences the estimation of its structural response. For this purpose, three case studies with geometric characteristics previously studied by other authors were established. The selected structures were adapted to the research needs and site conditions, and their structural responses were obtained using the methodology of structural response analysis of the Peruvian National Building Code and the methodology of construction sequence structural response analysis. As a result, lateral displacements increased by up to eight times their value, and the internal forces of the analyzed column in each model increased variably depending on the studied force. The investigation reaches the conclusion that considering the construction sequence in the structural analysis does influence the structural response of the building and that there is a more realistic description of structural behavior when construction sequence analysis is used.
