The main objective of this study was to evaluate the reduction of turbidity using organic coagulants based on Moringa oleifera seeds and Opuntia ficus-indica leaf mucilage in water samples from the sedimentation tank of the Huachog drinking water treatment plant, Huánuco. The study followed a quantitative, explanatory, and experimental methodology, using the jar test as the main technique. The experiments were conducted in the laboratory of the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. The influence of two factors was evaluated: doses of organic coagulants and sedimentation time in the reduction of turbidity, with three levels for the first factor: 10, 20, and 30 mg/L; and 20 and 30 minutes for the second factor. The main results showed that the coagulant obtained from Moringa oleifera seeds reduced water turbidity by 91.95%, while Opuntia ficus-indica leaf mucilage reduced it by 87.77%. It was concluded that the greatest reduction in turbidity was achieved with an optimal dose of 30 mg/L and 30 minutes of sedimentation for both coagulants, reducing from 60 to 2.86 NTU for Moringa oleifera and from 60 to 5.37 NTU for Opuntia ficus-indica.
