This work focuses on the stability analysis of the "La Esperanza" tailings dam, aimed at optimizing the design and ensuring structural safety against seismic events. Extensive geotechnical studies were conducted using SLIDE software to assess slope stability under various conditions, including static, pseudo-static, and post-seismic scenarios. The results demonstrated that the proposed design significantly improves the Factor of Safety (FS) in all analyzed sections, especially in section C-C', where a notable increase was observed, exceeding recommended minimum limits. Additionally, the project's economic feasibility was verified through a volumetric analysis, revealing reductions in coarse and fine tailings volumes without compromising structural stability. The study also included an evaluation of the monitoring and control system for the supernatant water, recommending improvements to prevent overloading on the slopes and the structure. Although no phreatic level was found in the analyzed areas, a conservative scenario was assumed, confirming that the coarse tailings are not subject to liquefaction. This work provides a comprehensive framework for optimizing tailings dam design, highlighting the importance of proper materials management and continuous monitoring to ensure the long-term safety of the deposit.
