The intense competitiveness of contemporary industries poses numerous challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises. Within this context, the food sector encounters the critical challenge of ensuring timely order fulfilment for its customers. This challenge arises from factors that adversely affect efficiency, primarily unplanned machinery downtime due to failures and the lack of order and cleanliness within operational areas. The availability metric, which is integral to the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), is essential for assessing the magnitude of these factors. The company under investigation is experiencing difficulties in achieving timely deliveries, resulting in incurred costs totalling S/. 227 245.15 due to overtime, spoilage, and generated waste, alongside a low machine availability rate of 77.63% for the forming and sealing equipment. Consequently, it is imperative to implement strategies aimed at minimizing machine downtime and optimizing availability. This study seeks to enhance availability through the application of lean manufacturing principles, specifically utilizing the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tool, in a food enterprise situated in the Huánuco region.
