In recent years, mental health has become highly relevant, especially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the World Health Organization (2023), an increasing number of young people have mental health problems. Therefore, sharing knowledge within psychiatry plays an important role as it allows people within the academic field to keep up to date with the latest advances in this area. Hence, an annotated translation from English to Spanish of the medical article “Preventive Psychiatry: A Blueprint for Improving the Mental Health of Young People” will be carried out. An annotated translation involves documenting and reflecting on the translation choices made during the translation process. This study is organized according to Nord's functionalist model. First, the pre-translational stage, where extratextual and intratextual factors are analyzed. Then, the translational stage, where the problems and difficulties are identified and addressed using translation strategies and techniques. Finally, the post-translative stage consists of comparing both the source text and target text regarding the communicative functions.
