E-commerce in general, and online food commerce in particular, has witnessed a significant surge in recent decades, particularly as a consequence of the health situation experienced both in Peru and globally due to the emergence and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The present research aimed to identify the relationship between purchase intent and online food purchasing behavior in supermarkets in Metropolitan Lima in 2023. Building upon previous studies, it was considered that the Purchase Intent variable was driven by purchasing attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. In turn, the purchasing attitude was influenced by three precursors: utilitarian motives, hedonic motives, and prior experience. Data were collected through a questionnaire validated by judge criteria, yielding an Aiken's V coefficient (>0.8) and a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.953. Following the application of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistical test, it was established that the obtained scores did not follow a normal distribution. The Spearman's Rho test was employed to evaluate hypotheses. It was determined that Purchase Intent did not correlate with online food purchasing behavior in supermarkets in Metropolitan Lima in the year 2023. One limitation of the study was that the survey was conducted online, reflecting the prevailing uncertainty related to the health emergency. A suggestion is to replicate the research in other cities in Peru to further understand the national reality in this regard.
