Objective: To compare the perception and acceptance of orthodontic treatment with temporary anchorage devices (TADs) according to sociodemographic characteristics, motivation and motive of young people and adults in Lima. Materials and methods: An observational, analytical and cross-sectional study was carried out in 194 patients, applying a questionnaire translated from English. Content validity (Aiken's V 0.88) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha 0.79 and Kappa 0.86) were tested. The chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests were used. Results: Regarding perception, differences were found according to age in preferring the DAT to dental extraction (p=0.034) and to reduce treatment time (p=0.024); also, according to the type of establishment there were differences in these same aspects (p=0.012, p=<0.003) as well as preferring the DAT to maxillary surgery (p=0.001), the preference to dental extraction was different according to the reason for treatment (p=0.034). Regarding acceptance, there were differences in the concern of treatment time according to the type of establishment (p=0.014) and place of residence (p=0.030); according to motivation dental extractions were accepted differently (p=0.040) and in the relationship with the reason there were differences in the importance of the number of extracted teeth (p=0.023). More patients from private establishments accept the DAT (p=0.049). Conclusion: There are differences in the perception and acceptance of orthodontic treatment with DAT according to some sociodemographic characteristics, motivation and motive.
