Annotated translation is a type of research that is constantly growing in the field of translation. It is an introspective and retrospective analysis of the translation process, in which comments are issued to reflect on the translation and justify the translator's decisions. Furthermore, globalization has generated technological advances, one of the greatest has been the neural machine translation (TAN). However, despite the development of this tool, it still has limitations. The objective of this research is to analyze the degree of human translator intervention in the post-editing of journalistic texts in American English about natural disasters that occurred in the United States from 2010 to 2020. The aim of this study is to examine these texts during the three phases of the process: pre-translation, translation and post-translation. First, an analysis of the base text will be carried out to identify the internal and external factors, as well as the probable sources of difficulty for the machine translator. Secondly, a machine translation engine will be used to conduct the translation process. Also, at this stage, post-editing will be carried out to solve those errors generated by this tool. Since this research follows Nord's functionalist theory, the errors will be classified according to this approach. Likewise, the post-editing process will be carried out using translation techniques and post-editing strategies proposed by Hurtado (2001). Finally, the final translation of the chosen texts will be presented as well as the comments regarding the performance of the machine translator.
