The world scenario and the energy transition show various and interesting regulatory reforms that are being implemented and operating in the electricity markets. This is the case of initiatives that promote greater participation of consumers in the planning and operation of the electricity system, through special programs such as demand response, which promote price signals and incentives for the economic benefits it generates to the market, in addition to improving the reliability of the electric service and its efficiency. This thesis addresses this type of reforms for the Peruvian wholesale electricity market and shows the potential economic benefits that agents can obtain when they participate in these programs. Chapter I, describes the objective and methodology for this thesis, in addition to raising the corresponding hypothesis; Chapter II, briefly describes the Peruvian electricity market, the reforms undertaken of first and second generation, the levels of competition achieved, the type of organization, the institutional model; Chapter III describes regulatory improvements undertaken with respect to demand response programs. Finally, Chapter IV describes in greater detail aspects related to these programs and simulates the expected benefits for an unregulated consumer in the Peruvian market.
