This research analyzes the use of sensationalist and humorous resources of Peruvian sports journalism on the internet, specifically focusing on the web program A presión. In this regard, the COVID-19 pandemic brought about significant changes in the media landscape. The increase in online audiences, due to mandatory global lockdowns, resulted in exponential growth in live broadcasts through platforms like Twitch or YouTube. Popular television programs began to create exclusive contents for these platforms, such as El chiringuito de jugones, one of Spain's most-watched sports shows. In Peru, the case of A presión stands out for being an eminently digital and independent sports program that, in less than three years of existence, has more than 90 million views on YouTube. Understanding the use of sensationalist and humorous resources by A presión in the context of the Qatar 2022 World Cup intercontinental playoff and the role of the Peruvian national football team is the purpose of this research. The following pages will explore a relationship that is not new: the connection between sports journalism, sensationalism, and humor, but in this case, immersed in a digital context. A historical and theoretical approach to this relationship will open the path to the content analysis of ten episodes of A presión, contributing to the identification of how the magnification of news or the use of humoristic formulas, among other examples, have consolidated their presence in such a short period of time.
