In the last few years, the number of cases of people with mental health problems has increased, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation has made psychiatric research and its spreading even more imperative. Medical translation has played a key role in the spread of scientific and medical texts and continues to be essential to increase the accessibility to these kinds of texts. The aim of this research is the annotated translation of the journal article titled Psychiatric disorders among adult deliberate self-harm patients and subsequent risk of dying by suicide, mental and behavioural disorders and other external causes (Seljenes et al., 2023). The theoretical foundations of this research were based on studies on specialized translation, medical translation, text typology and the functionalist theory proposed by Nord. For the annotated translation, we started with a pre-translation analysis, based on which a translation brief was created. After translating the text, lexical-semantic, morphosyntactic and stylistic-pragmatic problems were identified, later analyzed and solutions were suggested.
