In the research, the analysis of the problems with the highest incidence in the regrowth dam of the tailings dams of the central line method has been carried out, which can cause the destabilization of the structure. The faults found are related by the material that serves as the foundation in the regrowth dam. Therefore, to improve these spaces it has been seen as convenient to use the methods of material replacement to reinforce and increase the stability of the foundation of the tailings dam. From the different parameters, the phenomenon of liquefaction of tailings dams is analyzed, which influence their occurrence. After this analysis, the material replacement is evaluated through the different methods and finally the behavior of the foundation of the regrowth dam is verified with these methods of material replacement. The purpose of this material replacement is to generate a path and dissipation of the pore pressure that is triggered by the presence of liquefaction after a seismic event. Obtaining data from SPT tests (standard penetration test) the evaluation of the development of the liquefaction potential in the containment dam is carried out. Once the results of the liquefaction have been obtained, it is determined that the containment dam requires an improvement in relation to the structuring, proposing the replacement of material through the implementation of gravel columns, where its composition is based on angular gravel material. This implementation allows to keep the foundation stable and according to the calculations made it is concluded that the optimal diameters, to be placed in the foundation of the regrowth dam are between 1.00 and 1.20 meters. Likewise, the settlement is carried out in a shorter time than it is developed without the replacement material and the deformations that develop, decrease, because these replacement materials are ready to withstand a greater application of loads.
