Globally, the growth of the vehicle fleet in urban areas has increased, which has generated traffic congestion for different reasons. Peru and specifically the city of Lima is no stranger to this problem, which triggers an increase in travel times, vehicle accidents and long queue lengths that reduce the quality of life of users. According to the Automotive Association of Peru (2022), 41% of Lima perceive the deficient mass transportation system and vehicular traffic as a big problem due to delays during their trips to work, educational centers, or recreation areas. In addition, the economic loss caused by traffic congestion amounts to S/ 23.75 million per day. According to Quispe & Matías (2022), there is a significant increase of approximately 63% compared to the growth in the number of motor vehicles. This leads to an increase in connectivity, economic progress and comfort, but it also leads to an increase in travel times, stress, and queue lengths that trigger a decrease in the quality of life of citizens. In this case, the intersection of Riva Agüero avenue and La Marina avenue will be analyzed, because this intersection has a deficiency regarding its geometric design. In addition to having a whereabouts where the "Red" corridor circulates along with private and public vehicles. This causes an increase in travel times and queue lengths for users, reaching an average of approximately 120m to 157m, during peak hours.
