This investigation for the analysis of behavior and operation of support in the mining unit of the company Consorcio Minero Horizonte (CMH) was carried out in 4 stages. The first stage, consists of the collection of field information and its processing, to carry out the geomechanical classification of the rock mass of the place of interest. The second stage, with the information from the study work, determines the maximum scope of the plastification zone considering the design sections proposed by the planning area and the span of the work. The third stage, calculates the pressure that is generated on the support and the resistance offered by the latter. Finally, in the fourth stage, tests are carried out with different spacings and dimensions of the woodpack for its subsequent validation or not of the operation of the support element. In this study, it is concluded that the deformation of the rock in the surroundings of the work is a function of the angle of inclination of the vein; that is, if the dip difference between 2 veins is 5º, the deformation increases by 22% and if there is a dip difference of 20º, the deformation increases by 47%. In relation to the spacing considered: 0.70m, 1.00m, 1.30m, 1.50m, 2.30m and 3.00m; It was determined that the optimal spacing is 1.50m with woodpacks of 0.60m wide and 1.00m long; the same that represents a saving of 12.46% of consumption of m3 wood with respect to woodpacks of dimensions of 0.60m and 1.20m for an advance of exploitation of 22m.
