This paper addresses an investigation about the influence that different virtual social networks have on the perception of a politician, in this case the presidential candidates in the centennial segment. It is then that the electoral elections of 2016 and 2021 were taken as a premise. For this reason, the work analyzes various research papers, theses, statistical documents and academic articles, which serve to know various cases in which there was a strong influence of social networks around a presidential election. Likewise, the documents reviewed serve to clarify various concepts necessary to understand the meaning of both social networks and presidential elections, in addition to understanding the influence that this has on young people in the segment of interest. Within the present document, the concepts concerning the meaning, influence and importance of social networks were developed. On the other hand, concepts related to the perception of presidential candidates, among which are its definition, the measurement of approval/disapproval of candidates, voting intentions and electoral campaigns. Also, during this work, the use of social networks and how they influenced the perception of presidential candidates was developed, analyzing the type of publicity present in social networks, their advantages and disadvantages, in addition to mentioning positive experiences of the use of social networks in the favorable perception of candidates. Subsequently, the use of social networks and the perception of presidential candidates focused on the centennial segment during the general elections of 2016 were analyzed.
