The objective of the study is to describe the development of social well-being of people with Down syndrome based on work experience. For this, a qualitative study was carried out and a phenomenological design was adopted, using a conversational dynamic in a group of 10 people with Down syndrome, residents of Metropolitan Lima and who are currently working or have worked. The main results indicate that majority of the participants feel included in the workplace, due to the various opportunities that have been presented to them during their lives and which have contributed various knowledge and skills. With these experiences they have managed to explore skills that have contributed to their learning and well-being, achieving a positive evolution (organization, responsibility, order, among others) and allowing them to project themselves into the future. In addition, the relationship they maintain with their family and friends is relevant to their personal and professional growth and development, demonstrating confidence in others and in oneself. It is concluded that the person with intellectual disability improves their social well-being from their work experience.
