INTRODUCTION: There are still controversies about the extension of the duration of treatment for tuberculosis in patients diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). For this reason, the research topic focused on exploring the extension of the duration of treatment for Tuberculosis (TB) in patients with (DM) in Lima, Peru. METHODOLOGY: Analytical retrospective cohort study. It was carried out in 9 health centers in the district of San Juan de Miraflores, where data was collected for the years 2015-2020. Our main dependent variable was duration of treatment. For bivariate analysis, Fisher's exact test and Student's t test were used. RESULTS: A total of 102 patients were studied, of which they had an average age of 52.5 years, the majority had sensitive pulmonary TB with an extended duration of antituberculous treatment. In the bivariate analysis, an association was found with the result of the sensitivity test (p < 0.05) and having complete data in the monitoring of Diabetes Mellitus (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The extension of antituberculous treatment in patients with DM, despite not being regulated or regulated, is very common in this sample. We recommend expanding the results obtained in other studies, in addition to including other variables that may influence antituberculous treatment.
