This document analyzes the effects of El Niño – Southern Oscillation (ENSO), for fisheries and aquaculture in Peru during the period 2014-2018. Taking as a theoretical model the extension of the Gordon-Schaefer model presented by Anderson and Seijo (2010). Likewise, an econometric exercise was carried out taking data series mainly from the Annual Economic Survey (EEA) published by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru (INEI). These data were applied in a two-stage least squares model (2SLS). Where, the first stage of the estimates for both activities evaluate the possible endogeneity of ENSO through production costs. Meanwhile, the respective second stages do so in relation to total production (measured in soles) against a set of variables suggested by theory and literature, and to a prediction of the production costs of the previous stage. The results obtained from the research indicate that this climatic phenomenon does not significantly affect any of the economic activities through production costs, and only affects fishing directly through total production. Finally, conclusions are offered regarding the results shown and their relationship with the literature and economic theory, and the most important limitations are indicated. In addition, recommendations were proposed with the intention of improving the production of the Peruvian sector, and others for future research that adopts ENSO and fishing and aquaculture activities as a central theme.
